Canada-USA border divided by the Niagara River

From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. Acts 17:26

July 7, 2018. Every year on July 7, the Daily Audio Bible holds their annual prayer walk with their thousands of members from every corner of the globe. As we walk, we share our videos and experiences.

My prayer today is for the safety and unity of Canada and the USA. We are friends and neighbors that share a common language and some common cultural aspects. However, politically we are very different. But it was not always so.

Today I hiked a path where a strategic battle from the War of 1812 between Britain and the USA happened. This trail overlooks the boundary line between the two countries. As I walked, I reflected on an unfortunate war that caused a boundary line that should never have been. Only two hundred years ago, anyone could cross this river freely, but today one needs identification to cross this chasm. Without proper legal identification, you are either refused admission or—if you attempt to cross illegaly—face severe consequences.

According to this verse in Acts 17:26, God recognizes the boundaries of countries. He cares about each country and its’ leaders.

Do you realize that Heaven also has boundaries that require identification? Before the creation of the world, a war in Heaven between good and evil determined an eternal boundary line. Hell was created for the enemies of God to reside. When we pass from this life to the next, we need identification to prove who we are and why we deserve to pass into the presence of a Holy God. That identification is the blood of Jesus Christ. The blood is the seal that identifies us as citizens of that kingdom. It’s our spiritual passport to Heaven. What does your passport say?
